What is okay to photocopy?
For educational purposes, teachers may copy portions of certain works, within limits, generally, two pages or no more than 10%. Teachers must keep in mind
- the amount of the portion copied and
- how many times it will be used.
For example, it is okay to make one copy per student for one course duration. It is not okay to stockpile copies of the same worksheet without obtaining copyright permission.
Copying from the Internet
Not everything on the Internet is copyrighted. However, to be on the safe side,
- Always credit the source of your information.
- Get permission before publishing others' works on your websites
Showing Movies in School
As long as the movie is shown for instructional purposes in a classroom , it is considered fair use. A movie cannot be shown for purely entertainment purposes without permission from the copyright owner.
